At Wenatchee Valley Baptist Church we believe God calls and raises up elders to lead the church. An elder is one of a plurality of biblically qualified men who jointly shepherd and oversee the local church body. While all levels of leadership are very important, our elders will always be relied upon to be heard first as they teach the Word of God.
Our elders serve as managers and caretakers of the church. As overseers of the flock, they will lead in determining church policy, care for the spiritual condition of the church, ordain other leaders, teach, encourage, and serve the people of the church. As shepherds they will rely completely upon the Bible for their direction, and they will set an example for all in living full, rich, meaningful lives in close personal relationship with the Lord.
Please feel free to contact any of our elders with questions, needs, or concerns. They are eager to minister to you in any way they can.
Dave Hunter, Senior Pastor
I was born in the mountains of Kentucky and moved to the Northwest in 1969, the same year I came to know the Lord Jesus Christ. I am married to the love of my life, Bonnie. We joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU) in 1984 and served for 24 years in Utah, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and in Siberia, Russia. We have one daughter, Nikole, who is married to Devin McCollow. They are serving the Lord with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) in Ellensburg, Washington on the campus of Central Washington University.
My interests include fly-fishing, and catching trout, salmon, and steelhead. I am a football fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks, and my alma mater Boise State University.
I love the Lord and I love the ministry, serving as a pastor in Alaska and Washington. Besides being pastor and elder here at WVBC, I teach a small group Bible Study on Sunday evenings. I am totally committed to fulfilling “The Great Commission” as described in Matthew 28:18-20. My favorite book in the Bible is Romans. I love Bible Archeology and Apologetics and cannot wait until I see Jesus face to face!
Scott Bolander, Associate Pastor and Worship Leader
As far back as I can remember, I’ve had the example of loving and serving the church set before me. As a young teenager I owned this example and way of life as my own, taking opportunities to serve because I loved Jesus and His church. I attended Grand Canyon College in Phoenix, Arizona and earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. I earned my Master of Music at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas.
After graduating from Seminary, I’ve served churches in Texas, California, Arizona and Washington. I’m thankful that the Lord is allowing me to serve Him and His people here at WVBC as Associate Pastor, with my primary role in worship. I also plan and oversee various events throughout the year, and serve on our Elder Board.
My wife, Penny and I have been married for 25 years (yes, they truly have been “wonderful years”, and yes, she is definitely my better half!). We have 3 children, Charis, Eric and Lauren. Charis and Eric are both married, and Lauren our youngest is away at college, so we are now empty-nesters. Some of our great joys and hobbies in life are (in this new order…)
• Grandparenting (thank you, Charis and Max!)
• Anything family – games, food, music, holiday events, etc
• Raquetball (Penny)
• Gardening (Scott)
Dennis Dean, Elder
I have been married to my wife, Peggy, for eighteen years. We have one son, Michael, and a daughter, Michelle. Peggy and I have been members of WVBC for 14 years. Currently I serve on the Worship Team and teach the CoEd Youth Sunday School class. I work for Link Transit transporting the disabled and elderly and am continually looking for ways to share the Good News of Jesus Christ when presented with those “Divine Appointments.”
I travelled to Israel seven years ago. My hobbies include fishing, hunting, woodworking, and gardening.
Bob Goodman, Elder
Brad Smith, Elder
I have been married to Kari, our church secretary, since 1989. That makes 28 years. We have been members of WVBC for 8 years. Besides being an elder, I lead a small group Bible Study on Sunday afternoons. My wife and I have been involved with the Pennies for Posho ministry in Uganda for over ten years and were so thrilled to see the Ugandan Thunder choir lead a very moving and inspirational worship service for hundreds of Wenatchee Valley residents here at WVBC in 2013.
In my day job I work for the USDA canvassing fruit warehouses across the North Central Washington region and conducting inspections of storage facilities for apple exports to Mexico. My hobbies include woodworking and Bible study.
I love studying and teaching Bible prophecy and look forward to the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
